Several clients, including Amazon Studios, Publix and SouthEast Toyota (SET) wanted AR filters for their social feeds.
I picked up SparkAR Studio pretty quickly and was able to enhance a lot of the ideas the creative teams came up with by adding interactivity to the AR effects.
Some of the filters require 3D objects to be imported and animated, while others require image sequences. I worked closely with the design team to make sure imported assets were optimized.
I made sure each effect was as optimized as possible for each platform; Facebook and Instagram, and that functionality was similar for both platforms.
Some filters behave differently, depending if the front or rear camera of the mobile device was used. I had to come up with some creative programming to make this happen.
Other filters have an interactive picker so users can choose different costumes or eras to apply.
